What This Comparison Does and Does Not Say
Average position is an average across every query the site appears for. Moving it from 21.7 to 8.2 means the site is typically being seen much earlier in results. It does not mean first place for any particular keyword, and we do not present it that way.
Average click-through rate went the other way over the same window, from 3.3% to 2.6%. That is what happens when a site starts ranking for far more queries, including broad ones: impressions grow faster than clicks. We publish it because leaving it out would make the picture tidier than the data is.
